Exeter Festival Chorus with their annual Easter concert, which this year falls on Passion Saturday.

The highly regarded Festival Chorus hope to fill Exeter Cathedral with a great audience to hear their performance of J S Bach's magnificent and much loved setting of the Easter Story as told by St Matthew. They will be accompanied by the baroque orchestra 'Music for Awhile', with leader Margaret Faultless. Nigel Perrin will be conducting the event.

Written in 1727 for solo voices, double choir and double orchestra, with libretto by Picander (Christian Friedrich Henrici), J S Bach sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew to music, with interspersed chorales and arias. It is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of classical sacred music.

Exeter's Festival Chorus is a choir of around 75 singers who regularly perform around the region, and aim to bring the best choral music to the area. Under the musical direction of Nigel Perrin, EFC have become on the region's most versatile and highly acclaimed choral groups.

Bach's St Matthew Passion is always popular. You are advised to book early to secure the best seats.
