Live concert performance in the Clifford Room at the Exeter Barnfield Theatre.
The Carrivick Sisters are twins Laura and Charlotte Carrivick, they play a variety of bluegrass instruments including guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and fiddle with vocal harmonies and are both wonderful songwriters.
Although their background is in bluegrass, their music has a strong folk influence which is evident in their original songs, many of which are inspired by their local landscape and stories. Despite their youth The Carrivick Sisters are experienced performers having played all over the UK, in Europe, and in Canada. In 2008 Laura achieved second place at the RockyGrass Fiddle Contest in America. More recently, the Carrivick Sisters were finalists in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2010.
Stompin’ Dave Allen performs American roots music on vocals, guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, harmonica, and flatfoot dancing. Bridport, Dorset based Dave has been very active the past ten years working across the South of the UK and beyond, giving well over a hundred and fifty performances each year. He has performed at Glastonbury Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair and the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival to name but a few. Dave was recently described as “One of the world’s greatest performers” by Maverick Magazine. Winner of the FOAOTMAD old-time banjo contest 2011.
