Theatre performances, craft workshops, music festivals and wildlife watching events... there is plenty going on in the Heart of Devon.
Culture is a strong focus in the region and their are several major events each year which celebrate the area's cultural traditions. There are major festivals in Exeter, and age old traditions are celebrated in the surrounding towns, such as the flaming tar barrels of Ottery St Mary and the Colyford Goose Fayre. Rural culture is also celebrated in the area's regular market days.
With so much wide open space and fresh air, it's no surprise that sporting events feature highly in the Heart of Devon's calender. With two racecourses, a football club and rugby club, there is plenty of choice!
The Heart of Devon's miles of rolling countryside and lush coastline mean there are many local food producers, and you can have the chance to sample their wares at one of the popular local farmers markets. Exeter is known as the cultural capital of the south west, and hosts major national and international artists at its many concerts and theatre events. The exciting programme of annual festivals includes Animated Exeter in February and Vibraphonic in March.
