Tiverton Canal in the Spotlight
BBC Children in Need's Pudsey Bear took part in a trip on the Grand Western Canal in Tiverton recently. The trip was provided by the Tiverton Canal Company to raise money for the charity.
A photograph of a horse-drawn barge on the canal was recently voted the nation's favourite image in this year's BBC Countryfile Photographic Competition. 'Pulling Power' by Sarah Williams captures a scene of 12 year old working horse Taffy towing the 70 foot Tivertonian barge along the canal near Tidcombe Bridge, and takes pride of place on the front cover of the charity calendar for 2012, sold in aid of Children in Need.
