Two Moors Way - walk

None

Running for just over 100 miles between Ivybridge in the south and Lynmouth in the north, this famous path links the two National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. The route covers a wonderful diversity of scenery; from Ivybridge it passes through a wild and remote stretch of Dartmoor and on to some of the most beautiful sections of the Dart Valley. It then climbs again to cross high moorland and past the last castle to be built in England – the early 20th century (NT) Castle Drogo.

Then comes a section which is more suitable for the less experienced walker, covering some delightfully unspoilt parts of central Devon, linking Dartmoor with Exmoor. Then on to Exmoor and some delightful river valley scenery, with magnificent views from the high moorland. The end of the path leads to the pretty twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, overlooking the Bristol Channel.

Walking is easy with just one or two challenging stretches and the route is comprehensively waymarked, apart from the open moorland sections which require navigational skills.

The trail can be accessed by bus and/or train routes to allow for short lengths to be walked. The route passes through Chagford, Witheridge, Ivybridge, Lynton, Lynmouth, Dartmoor and Exmoor, and links with the following trails: Tarka Trail; South West Coast Path; Little Dart Ridge and Valley Walk; Taw-Teign Link; Dartmoor Way; Devonshire Heartland Way.
