Culture is a strong focus in the region and their are several major events each year which celebrate the area's cultural traditions. There are major festivals in Exeter, and age old tradtions are celebrated in the surrounding towns, such as the flaming tar barrels of Ottery St Mary and the Colyford Goose Fair. Rural culture is also celebrated in the area's regular market days.

With so much wide open space and fresh air, it is no surprise that sporting events feature highly in the Heart of Devon's calender. With two racecourses, a football club and rugby club, there is plenty to choose from!

The Heart of Devon's miles of rolling countryside and lush coastline mean there are many local food producers, and you can have the chance to sample their wares at one of the popular local farmers markets.
