By leaving your car behind and travelling by public transport, you can sit back and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Heart of Devon. The area has excellent transport links, with most towns and villages accessible by bus or train. Some public transport operators offer 'explorer' tickets, where you buy a day ticket and can hop on or off at your leisure.

Tarka LineThe Tarka Line train runs from Exeter to Barnstaple, and is one of the country's most scenic rural branch lines. Passing through the towns of Crediton and Eggesford, as well as smaller villages along the route, it is also known as the Rail Ale Trail, with charming pubs serving real ales at many of the stops.
