Film Locations in Devon

Devon's stunning landscape, with its ancient rolling hills, historic country manor houses and busy cityscapes, makes it a popular location for film and television.

the Heart of Devon's historical attractions have long attracted film directors from far and wide for their evocative settings. Powderham Castle was featured in the Oscar winning 'Remains of the Day', and Exeter's Historic Quayside was one of the main locations for the BBC drama 'The Onedin Line' in the 1970s.

Filming in ExeterGerman visitors will be especially interested in the area as the setting for many of the Rosamunde Pilcher films of recent years - Higher Thornwood holiday cottage was chosen as the backdrop for one of the scenes in 'Deep Feelings' because of its traditional thatched roof and breathtaking views. The Rosamunde Pilcher romantic dramas have also been filmed in Exeter city centre and at Exeter Airport.
