East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscape is characterised by intimate wooded combes, vast areas of heathland, fertile river valleys and breathtaking cliffs or hilltops.

East Devon AONB

It includes the East Devon section of the Jurassic Coast - England's first natural World Heritage Site. Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty are part of the same family of protected landscapes that includes National Parks.

This is a living, working landscape, shaped by many centuries of farming activity......help continue this tradition and buy local...go on, 'eat the view'! Whether you're a visitor to East Devon, or a local looking for somewhere special to go for the day, the East Devon AONB offers a variety of opportunities.

Whether you horse ride, cycle or walk check out the Devon Rights of Way website and select 'my local paths' to see all Public Rights of Way, Cycleways, Access Land and DEFRA Stewardship sites with public access. You can also find out if there are any stiles, gates or bridges on the paths and how steep or level a route is.

OR try a trail with a difference - the Axe Valley sustainability trail will inspire you to 'do your bit'.
